    Prep: Hot Shower
    Razor: C.V. Haljestrand #4
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
AS: Alum Block, Nivea ASB, Skin Bracer
    Finish: Clubman

This is shave #16 since any honing has been done on this razor and it just seems to get sharper with use. Great 3 pass shave, absolutely BBS.

It is very satisfying to see that something I had thought for years would be not easy to achieve, with careful preparation and not much last-minute hesitation became possible.

    Revisor > Omega > Dovo > Myrsol > Ortigia

Result: good, not presentable, not ultimately close, no cuts whatsoever, quite a bit of neck redness (but I always apply too much pressure, even with a DE, should fix that soon).

Will not last as long as any of my standard shaves do (i.e. 10 hrs) but for a first full attempt I am more than happy.
First shave is always satisfying. They will get better as time passes. As you gain more experience you'll find the rash going away as your touch gets better. It is amazing at how light your touch can be and still remove whiskers.

    Enjoy!

Oh, nice Kippas. Try to find one with a Razor embroidered on it.

My Grandmother purchase a Rolls for my father when he went into the Army. He used it 2-3 times in his lifetime. I was wondering how the shave was?

    Strop: Illinois 835
    Brush: Comoy Badger
    Soap: Proraso
    Razor: Joseph Rodgers 6/8
    Astringent: Thayer's Cucumber Witch Hazel
    A/S: David Craig Bay Rum
This was probably the first shave this razor has seen in decades. Its just been restored and I honed it up last night. Similar to what Rene said recently, I like to use a particular routine when test shaving a new edge to eliminate the variables and assess the blade. For me it is 2 passes, Proraso, and preferably a 2 day growth.
Result: Very nice edge on it. Near BBS after 2 passes, but I think I can get a little more out of it. Might take it back for a few more laps tomorrow night. The better I get at honing the more fussy I'm getting about my edges.
Thanks for all the great post boys

Jeff, how the shave was? Same way as a DE, it's SingleEdge Safety Razor with
special self-sharpening mechanism. ...but I'll use not so often, as your father.

    Cheers,
