    Razor Vintage Iron Duke
    Simpsons Chubby 2
    Vulfix Persian musk
    Alum Block
    L'Occitane Bavx balm + Propolis
    L'Occitane Bavx EDT

First attemp at using a straight razor fairly confident leading up to the shave, I would say technically more difficult than I imagined, but the Iron Duke deserved a run out after the beautiful restoration carried out by Neil Miller, anyway on to the shave I would say 70% of the shave was with the Iron Duke, with the grain on the cheeks down both sides of neck fairly close, no nicks or cuts, then minor finish with the Feather AS-D1, i'm not sure if I could become a straight razor user, but maybe once a month as a variety shave.

Well done Jamie! But think the other way around, shave every day instead. Many feels like you, it´s hard to use a straight, but if you hang in there it´ll come to you, but you need to work up some muscle memory and technique. Hang in there!!

As for the GFT moisturizer, it is my daily moisturizer. The main reason I use it is to mix it with the AS and apply it to face. Skin feels so awesome with this mix, you won't believe your eyes. Try it. Highly recommended

As for the MdC EdTs...They are all great. The Limette is quickly becoming my favorite of the 3, with the Vetyver running neck and neck. The lavender was one I was not too crazy about (wife loved it though) and it is slowly growing on me. Of course, the Copra oil is a bit oily, but it has fantastic moisturizing capacity...So, just an invisible dab on finger tips is all you need to cover the face in thin layer of oil that lasts and smells great.

    Hope this helps buddy
Wow Thanks so much for the very detailed response, Robert. Appreciate it.

I suppose then that the bowl is on the "to buy" list only when my glass jar runs out. And I may not live to see that day...

I've tried the GFT moisturiser in their Mayfair store in central London. I didn't have a chance to apply it after shaving and I think it maybe time to try this out. One for the autumn/winter me thinks! I still have a 30ml travel size of Harris' Cucumbers and Roses moisturiser to go through...

Ah, the Vetyver is the most appealing to me, but I may be tempted by the Lavende. How would you compare them to other fragrances? I like woody scents but if they are too spicy, I wouldn't be able to wear them. I suppose I have the Aventus to pay for before I can start shopping again. And hopefully waiting a bit longer for MdC to bring their postage costs down!

Anyway, back on topic: no shave for me today. Instead I'll be using my pre-shave scrub tonight, as always the evening before a shave, L'Occitane's Cade / juniper bark scrub, followed by my usual moisturiser. Cologne: Acqua di Parma Colonia

Thanks for the encouragement given Mikael, who knows maybe I will give it a go on a more regular basis, but i'm so comfortable with my Feather AS-D1 in hand it's hard to switch when you know how good that shaves, but aged 52 there's one thing iv'e learned from life never say never.

    Cheers Jamie.

Oh great Julian...now, I am expandable? LOOOOOL. The good ol' "Will do until the next best thing comes along" philosophy, eh, LOOOOOOL.

Thanks for the Somerset minireview buddy. What about backbone? is she a stiff or floppy or somewhere in between?
Robert, thanks for the pass on the vintage shave..

Its not philosophy my friend, you are the real deal..

As for the Duke Somerset, I'd call it a 'tweener..IMO the backbone is more than adequate..I would not classify it floppy..It may not have the density of today's brush, but it has balance and poise..The knot, the loft, the hair and density compliment each other very well....

    Best regards,
    Julian

Wow, this one hit it out of the park today. Muy smooth This might just be my last shave for a couple days, due to some minor surgery I'm supposed to have done tomorrow, good thing it turned out a good one
