Results: fantastic shave and I feel privledged to be able to share it with y'all.
    Andrew,
What a beautiful X-mas present to yourself . That's a gorgeous "Mazimized" F. Herder razor. Don't look at it as a purchase, but rather as an investment. This thing will never lose value and if anything will gain in value over time. Use her in good health my friend and I am sure I speak for most of us here when I say, we feel equally privileged to have you share your shaves with us (and vice versa)

Post Week of January 1 SOTD - Monday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Thäter "Ltd. Ed. SRP 2011", 2-band Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 7/8" Wade & Butcher "Celebrated Hollow Ground", Full Hollow Ground, Barber's Notch (w/ Hunter Green G10 scales + Light Grey wedge)
Strop: 10/65 laps (Torolf Linen / SRD Premium IV English Bridle leather)
Soapreme: Cyril Salter "Wild Rose" Shave Creme + SRD "Bulgarian Rose" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: D.R. Harris AS Milk
After Shave Splash: D.R. Harris "Pink" AS
After Shave Balm: RazoRock AS Wax
Results: The second shave of 2012 was just as phenomenal as the first . Took out my "Maximized" Celebrated W&B for a spin and she delivered on the dime. The edge was amazingly sharp, yet so smooth. No wonder W&B are amongst some the best shavers out there. As for lather, I opted for some Rose scented delight. The combination of the CS and SRD Roses was just spot on. These must be amongst the best of the best as far as software is concerned, especially the SRD soap (it is probably one of the best glycerin soaps ever made). Smooth as butter and loving it. These are the moments that remind us why it is GREAT to be a Man.

    Have a TERRIFIC Monday gentlemen.

Preshave: Haircut, Hot Shower, Baby Oil Gel
Razor: Friedmann and Lauterjung "The Electric:
    Cream: Barbasol Sensitive Skin
    AS: Nivea Double Action Balm
    Finish: Aqua Velva Classic

Tried to whip this cream up in a mug with the baby oil gel but I think I used to much water because within seconds it looked about like skim milk. From there I decided to just use the baby oil gel as a preshave (like I often do) and apply the Barbasol over the top. This seemed to work out fine and was plenty slick for the straight razor. The last time I used it, this razor's edge was OK but starting to get a little muddy. A quick touch up yesterday morning obviously resolved that. The edge was crisp and very effective today. One pass was good enough for a holiday afternoon. SWMBO has decided she loves the smell of Aqua Velva. This works perfectly because I like to use it as well.
The older I get, the better I was

The ratio can be a bit tricky as you need to kill the lather a little bit but not so much that you liquify it. Keep trying it from time to time. Once you get it figured out it becomes very good for straight razor use.

Cheers Robert! Your W&B looks awesome, those scales are da tits Bro , really though, they're very tasteful to that blade!! ... I like how you think about razors and investments, I always thought I was a sucker when it comes to buying razors, but now it turns out I'm an investor

    Thanks Mikael,
The aesthetics of the scales are a testament to what Max "The Maestro" can do. That's his elegant design. His price may be a little higher than most, but by my estimate, they bring more value to the razor than what I pay for.

PS: And you are an investor...Anything you buy is only a purchase if judged by price alone.

Well Andrew...that's a whole different discussion. Fortunately my wife is 100% behind my investments and I don't need to sell her anything

so I kept everything the same from yesterday to make an accurate judgement in the difference from the frameback and the 1/4 hollow. Slightly harsh today and not BBS by a long shot. a good shave but I am really noticing the change of not having my higher grit finish hones. Technique means a bunch to the shave but a good high grit hone helps a bunch too! I AM SPOILED!!!!
