    Happy New Year!

I skipped shaving yesterday so today was two-days growth.

Genco 6/8 Square Point Pyramid 7 (honed by me as part of JaNorton)
    Badger brush
    L'Occitane Cade SS
    Thayer's
    Aqua Velva Original Sport (green)
    Nivea ASB
    Bigelow Green cologne

The Genco performed really really well. It mowed down two days growth with ease. This was my first shave with the Genco, and its a nice razor.

    Evening shave...

Prep: Hot shower -- followed by 3P pre-post-shave cream
SS/SC: Pre de Provence + Cella "Crema Da Barba"
Brush: Rooney Style 3 Size 2 (Medium) faux Ebony “Super Silvertip Badger”
Strop: VB Red Latigo 50 fabric; 60 leather
Razor: 5/8” Waldorf w/ Pearl covered tang
Toner: Thayers “Original” Witch Hazel w/ Aloe Vera
ASB: Barclay Crocker – Vitamin E “Bay Rum” Scent
    AS: Dominica “Bay Rum”
    Result: A close, enjoyable shave…

This razor, which I purchased on ebay, is my second attempt at honing a razor. My shave went pretty well.
I think the edge may need to spend a bit more time on the Naniwa 12k though.

Tonight's shave in preparation of my return to work tomorrow after a month.

    Hot shower, Stephan's, warm oil
    Dirty Bird Scuttle
    New Forest Badger
Truefitt and Hill Almond Shave Cream
    Corvette Extra, 7/8 1/2 hollow
    SRP 75 leather
    Razorock Aluminum
    Pinaud Bay Rum
    Vaseline for men

This is the second time I used this razor. It provided a nice, smooth shave. At the end of my shave, my hand felt a bit slippery. As I went to wipe my hands I dropped the razor into the sink. I was sure I damaged the blade and almost got sick. Luck would have it that the blade is fine. I was so lucky.

    Enjoy the evening.

    Default JaNorton Shave #2

    .

Music: Billy Vera And the Beaters - What Would You Do ..
Prep: Hot Shower / How towel soaks
Razor: 2x 9/16 Spike Wedges fresh off the Nortons
    Hones: 3" Big Daddy Felt/Chestnut 50/100 each
Brush: 24mm Silvertip in American Ash
Uber: Omega (proraso) + Spieck = A very cool, soothing shave. After yesterdays burn, I needed it!!
AS: Alum block Followed by Pinaud Clubman
    Edc: Stetson
Result: Today's shave was a lot better than yesterdays. The lessons I learned, plus the input from my good friends here, got me a really nice, clean, smooth shave!!!! It was NO STING off the alum today, and I got an exceptional DFS. Both blades were much smoother today, and the edges were OBVIOUSLY sharper. My jawline got a rather nasty cut, pics attached. I was stretching and just placed the edge wrong and she went straight in. Bled like the devil. Thanks to Alum it didn't last too long, but I'm gonna have fun shaving over that area for a while!! The right earlobe suffered a nick as well. Dang sharp blades!!!! But, I am really gratified that I have a 80% success ratio since starting this months challenge. The only razor that has failed me so far has been a stubborn timor razor. Both my spikes, plus I did another Ontario Cutlery 6/8's today as well, that has an incredible edge on it as well. Took arm hair off an inch above the skin (exageration for effect!). As you can see in the second pic, my skin is pretty well trashed from yesterday's roughness. I can't stop, help me obi-wan...
