Thanked: 13245Ice Ice Baby
Ok so I finally decided to try a "planned" cold water shave today.. It has been hovering at about 90 for the past few days, and I had heard many people bragging about how great a cold water shave feels so I went for it
Lather: Confianca O'Melhor Creme' de Barbear (thanks Leon)
Brush: Restored Solid Brass 22mm Silvertip
Strop: SRD Premium 1 20/40 leather/linen
Razor: TI 7/8 with GS custom scales (more info)
A/S: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Results:
Really nice shave, took a minute to figure out how the lather was going to work with ice cold water but it came alive, I was amazed with how close the frist stroke was, it seemed that the hair was harder (tougher) to cut, but the shave was closer if that makes sense..
One WTG pass and some minor follow ups and I had a very very comfortable outcome..
Methinks I might try this a few more times while it stays hot up here...

Razor: Chiron micrtome
Brush: Rooney Pure Badger
Soap: RazoRock Mudder Focker 2012 LE
AS: Brut
Result: Got this microtome yesterday an decided to make it a shaver. Taped it up(one layer on hollow side, three on the flat side) and honed it, starting with the King 800/4000. I skipped using my 8k and instead used a two sided Wester Bros. barber hone. Then finished on the translucent Arkie. Despite the weight of the blade and scales it was a really smooth and comfortable shave. Also used the new RR limited edition soap today. Earthy/muddy scent and made my skin feel great. Here is a link to a pic if the microtome next to the Henckels I picked up at the same time. Enjoy:
