Razor: Wade & Butcher 15/16 Extra Hollow
Brush: Unknown Boar Brush
Cream: RazoRock Cumba Cheech
AS: Thayers Lavender and Clubman Original
EDT: Canoe
Result: Finally have power but still no WiFi, so no pic yet again. The W&B was awesome as usual, melting away the whiskers easily. The Cumba Cheech(orange blossom and jasmine) is one if those soaps that is perfect for summertime. Finished off with the Clubman and Canoe and I get the feeling that today is going to be pretty damn good.

Thanked: 88Oh thanks, but it's not one year straight shaving (that's more like 5 months). It's just my birthday.

Razor: Kanenaga Kamisori
Brush: Crowley & Tosh Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella Crema da Barba
Pre-shave: Truefitt & Hill Pre-Shave Oil
Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery G20
Balm: L'Occitane Cade Juniper aftershave balm
This was the first shave after honing this new kamisori. I'd shaved a few times with the OOTB edge, stropping only, and found it wanting -- it left some serious razor burn on my neck, and really dug in on the chin. After a careful inspection using a 10X loupe, the bevel near the tip was simply not set, and had a small chip. I honed it using the following: first, a Bester 1200, then on a Takashima J-nat, then on a Yaginoshima J-nat. On each I used a 10-1 ratio (very light sweep on the ura side). I used the loupe periodically to see what I was doing to the bevel. It cleaned up nicely, was even all the way to the tip. I put about 50 laps on a steer hide strop, and shaved, basically two passes, but with some fussing around the chin. This was one of the best shaves I've had since I started with straights of any kind. Smooth, and no irritation.
One thing I noticed: the kamisori likes a very wet, slick lather; my other straight, a Mastro Livi New Grind, seems to like a more traditional, foamy lather.
Cheers,
Jack
