Hot water prep
Ali's Blade Raptor razor - Thuringian stone - Barbershop badger brush - Proraso red sc - cold water splash - hot jasmin bath - Pitralon NOS 60's after shave
A great day of garden work was finished with a small honing session, taking three blades to the Thuri. I wanted to see if I could get the edge from Cedric a tad bit smoother. In the end I did, but only just. I forgot that this thing is HRC 63 or so, so I'm going to need just a couple more laps. Like a hundred or so...
Great shave all in all. Ueberclean in two.
Thanks for the inspiration Gents. Have an awesome week.
I know I will.
And the three razors. For your viewing pleasure.

I totally like that picture! The whole GREENness about it. The way the light comes in through the Burberry bottle. The way the razor is pointing at you saying:" yeah, go ahead, try me...".
And is that west indies resting on your iPad?!
Wicked!
Totally, totally love it.

A friend of mine at work upgraded to a metal lathe and was kind enough to pass on his old wood lathe to me. Naturally the first thing I made was a brush handle.
I wanted it to have a handle that was a bit longer than usual as my scuttle is pretty deep, and I added some grooves for grip (and a bit of decoration) that were burned in, and I think it turned put pretty well although the spacing of the grooves is a bit wonky. It lathered beautifully (24mm silvertip knot from Whippeddog) and I didn't end up knuckles-deep in lather. The only downside is I can see how turning might become a bit addictive...
It was also a good reminder of one of the many things I like about all this. Rather than the overpriced garbage I used to shave with, I lathered with a brush whose handle I made earlier today, stropped on a strop I made, and shaved with a razor that I brought back to life and whose scales I made. I can't wait until my nephews are old enough to teach about all this. There are many lessons to be learned. Not only about the shave itself, but about craftsmanship, self-sufficiency, and the joy of working with one's hands.
Have a wonderful week, everybody!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
