Thread: What Do You Have In The Mail Right Now?

I will. I just looked under a 10x glass and the front side with the broken end you can see pores pretty plainly, even without it really. The other side with the crack at the wedge end has not one pore anywhere, even on the end, in fact it almost looks like plastic on the end but it is definitely not plastic.

This isn't razor related--

First and Foremost---Tc, please forgive me as I have sinned!

Apparently the previous owner/owners of my '97 Harley Heritage didn't apply any oil to the leather saddle bags and when I got it the top was quite hard and had shrunk. I've been letting the bags sit in the sun and once warm I've rubbed in mink oil several times.

While the leather did soften, the shrinking has continued to where there are openings to allow water in.

So I bought a new set of bags,





While they do have locks, l'm a firm believer that locks just keep honest people honest. They came with mounting hardware for mounting but not quick release. I found that they have a quick release bracket system so I ordered them as It would be very convenient to just lift the bags off instead of off loading tools, etc when I stay in a motel.

It would also be nice to just pop them off when I need to work in the rear wheel area.

I think that they'll look right at home on my iron horse.

Okay, as you might guess I'm a W&B nut. I got THIS one in today.

I took a chance. Sometimes you win. Not sure yet if it's actually a "win" but better than it might have been.

After seeing some others on here, I asked Steve Kirschman at Dan's Whetstones to find me a nice hard black primitive cut about the size of an aircraft carrier. Well, he did, and for a ridiculous price too. I just got off the phone with his wife Kim in the office, and the one on the left is on the way to me: 14"x4"x1" inches of razor finishing glory. As the bottom is unfinished, I may mount it on a fine piece of wood and make it the center-piece of my coffee table lol (with a large can of WD-40 beside it of course!).

I don't know if the 12x5" one on the right is still available or not. You might want to call them if you're interested. Steve was very patient with me through a couple weeks of phone calls and texts. They are a real old-school family business, and I have been wanting to do business with them for some time.

And so the lonely vigil beside the mailbox begins-sigh...

Yeah, it's just about nuts. I certainly don't need it, and it's totally impractical-I just waaaaant it real bad. I figure it might cut down on the dreaded Arkie stroke count a bit, eh? I asked Steve repeatedly if it was dead flat all the way across, because I couldn't flatten that damn thing at gunpoint with a big sack of grit even-no thanks! He said that it was flat as they can get a stone that big on the equipment they have; I am fairly certain that will be flatter than literally anyone else can get it without taking a couple weeks off from work! I'll probably wear out my shoulders just burnishing it and maybe dressing the edges a bit to smooth out snags, but the edges look great compared to a couple other fresh-cut primitives I've seen.

From a user standpoint, I've lusted after JOB15/Joseph's foot-long, ultra smooth Arkies for awhile now (careful there! ). I knew I had to have one, but no way I can afford the hundreds it would take to snag one that size and thickness anymore than I can justify an Escher. And so, naturally, I had to have one of these.

And Jerry, after I've played with it a bit, I can send it your way to try if you would help with shipping on that big slab! My only concern will be a greater possibility of breakage on that long, slim hone. I feel certain a drop on the floor would do it-maybe mount it on rubber? Anyway, of course I'll post pics if Santa Claus comes (unless they shut down USPS?).

You are correct! I does look like an aircraft carrier!

Thanks for the offer, Aaron. But like you, I'd be afraid of what could happen. Fewer laps? I dought it. You will just do more miles on it. Ha.

Well, then you'll have to send me a razor whose edge you want to try it on-least I can do. I'll need to practice on it haha!
