It was $20US and free shipping, it's a chance worth taking for the price and you never know, it might just be the bees knees.

    Aloha!

I'm a fan of Horsehair brushes. I find them to be the best mix of Badger, Synth and Boar. And we don't have to worry about the Anthrax scare in these brushes from 120 years ago, so I'm all in on Horsehair.

I like my Vie Long Horsehair brushes, but most of them are pretty small. I found this one last week and ordered it.

Only $16.50 delivered. At that price I would be happy if it only lasted a month, although my Vie Long brushes have proven to be much better than I expected with regard to quality.

I always liked the wood scales and blade face etching. Hopefully that's a good buy.

    Hi Bill,

I have been interested to try horsehair but someone told me that they go like a smelly wet paintbrush.

Do they have any backbone while they're being used, and how long does it take the smell to go?

    Aloha Steve!

I had one that I got from eBay that had a bit of an ordor, but I washed it with Dial Antibacterial soap and then rinsed it with some 50 percent wintergreen alcohol and it was fine from that point on.

The Vie Long Horsehair brushes I have do NOT have any odor whatsoever. Well, let me be clear; UP TO THIS POINT, they have not had any odor. Let's HOPE this trend continues. The one I just ordered is a bit larger than the Vie Long brushes I have, so I jumped on it for that price point in a larger brush size than I currently have in Horsehair.

I really like the way a Horsehair brush applies lather to my face. To me they do have enough backbone to stand up to application of lather. But like all things shaving, everyone has different perceptions on just about everything they use. All I can tell you is that Horsehair is my favorite brush, as it combines the best of Boar, Badger, and Synthetic in one brush that really works well for my shaving style. And Vie Long Horsehair brushes are harvested from Horses humanely without hurting the animal in any way, so as an animal lover, I like that aspect of my Vie Long Horsehair brushes.

Well, I finally got tired of my raggedy old drill press. My wife and I needed an accurate press, especially for drilling 7mm holes in pen blanks. So after doing some research, I got the same WEN 4214 that Roy recently posted about here. The general consensus on YouTube reviews seems to be that it is maybe the best bang for the buck out there, offering probably 95% of the features of presses costing twice as much; I paid not quite $270 for it on Amazon, and definitely feel like I got my money's worth. My only issues are that fit and finish is a bit rough, and it sounds kinda loud and clanky under operation, probably due to a cheap motor housing.

Anyway, I followed Roy's tips on setup because he's probably forgotten more about shop tools than I'll ever know, and it drills super-clean, straight, accurate holes, which is the point, right? The laser alignment was dead on, and all the other features work as advertised.Name: WEN Drill Press Front View.jpg

Thanks for the great recommendation and the help with setup, Roy!

Hey, i have that same one
I got lucky though, and got in on a few of the Wen tools before they started going up in price... Paid $190 for mine back in Dec 2015

I'm going to have to look for that post from Roy.
I don't know if this was part of it or not, but I know the complaint I had on mine was the casting around the depth stop wasn't very clean or flat.
I'd definitely recommend looking at yours, and filing it flat if needed. When mine hit the stop it would always pull a little to the side.

Lie you said though, other than a little noisy, it's a darn good press for the money!
