Spent some time making strop covers for all my strops and a couple extra for strops that are in the mail...

Yes. And its got to stop soon! A couple of those are treated linen or cotton strops. Keep them from getting on other things.

Not a big project, but I am finally carving a mate for this broken set. The shaping portion is nearly done, then a wee bit of Sanding and a few details, then to try to figure out how to match the colour. Early tests suggest a bit of turmeric in my usually concoction of orange pekoe and espresso should get me pretty close.

I need to visit this thread more frequently. Just spent 20 minutes or so going through 15 odd pages.

    Some lovely projects Gents.

@BeJay, those scales came out superbly!

Default half-baked idea about pitted steel

I have a soft spot for "sad" razors -- old wedges for example with lots of pits. Sometimes also really cute razors with good edges but pitted spines.

Like, check out this little French faux frameback in bone scales:

Here it is about halfway through cleanup:

I can get to clean shiny metal at the bottom of the pits with a combination of Evapo-rust, a wire brush, some buffing... but they're still pits and I'm afraid I'll compromise the spine geometry if I chase them all the way down.

I worry about these pits being a place for moisture to accumulate and develop further rust. Like, they're harder to dry than just the smooth surface of the blade after a shave. So I've been wondering about filling them with something like an aluminum-filled body putty like All-Metal. The color wouldn't quite match, but at least it'd be metallic gray, and if the epoxy bonds well enough there wouldn't be a way for moisture to get in there.

What do you all think? Anybody have experience with this stuff?

Just laying out the walnut and leather for the weekender kit I’m building.
Got the razor cradles all carved out, now to fit, finish and final assemble.

A little different than the others, Mike? That is going to be sweet!

I have had a bit of time to go through the shards around here.
So many that need new homes someday. Rediscovered this.

Reckon I will be keeping this one.

    It's time.
Old Prewar Twinworks 14. You don't get these from Japan, Men!

I suppose I dig the old blue patina so much I have resisted doing anything.
It has sat for a good 6 or 7 years....unpinned.

Getting it here on the table is the biggest step. The rest will come easily when disappearing from relatives over the holidays!

    That is the plan, anyway.
