Thanked: 2284OK, I did get a chance to go at this with some steel wool and fluid film. I really wanted to save the patina the entire blade has, and I really didn't want to unpin it. Soaked it in neatsfoot oil for 3 days, and hit the entire blade with fluid film and 000 steel wool. Scales, pins, washers, everything inside and out. Also went through about 20 dental floss sticks to clean the pivot. Now I just need to tighten the pins and hone it up.

Thanked: 2284I don't think so, I had thought about doing that. Same with the pins, I had considered polishing them too but I'm going to keep everything in a mat finish...... call me lazy...

Andrew, it looks good the way it is & you are like me. I try to keep some of my razors looking original if possible. If you have a translucent finish on the scales, that's all that counts. It's hard to find some honey horn in such beautiful shape. Many have delaminated or chipped. You did a very nice job on that! I love it.
(I have been on & off because my internet has been intermittently working. They came out & checked it out, replaced a splitter & it started working but there is still another problem.)
