I haven't been doing much because I haven't been feeling well but I have been to my doctor to have some tests done & i need to go back.

Really now, last I time I was able to get on here, you all remember I was bleaching these ivory scales for my Ern Ator. It's ready to be pinned back together but they are bleached white now. I'm going to leave 'em that way. They should yellow over time.

Seems I recall that now Tom. Last I remember, MikeT was selling a lot of his razors, I think because of the baby or something. I did acquire a couple Case Brothers smiling razors but I guess I should post them in Show & Tell.

That was all the sanding I was going to do, Jerry.
Scales are still soaking, blade is done, just waiting to see what the collars are like, that Tom sent. Might be here, today, if not tomorrow, I hope.

The blade has three different types of sanding going on.

    Brushed looking blade
    Satin tang
Polished spine and toe, as well as the outer edges of the tail. Nothing crazy, though. Wasn't trying to make it look like new, just better than it was. If the scales come out the way I'm hoping, its gonna look pretty sweet.!

Well in my book thats a lot of crazy sanding. Sound cool as ever. It should end up looking better than new as far as i can tell. I will examine this sanding and see.if i can learn from it.

Steve, if you soak those scales in light mineral oil they will be less likely to break and get a light yellow hue.

Good luck with matching the blade, face.
Its kinda like a signature, each to the person, signing it.

    Heresy perhaps:

Why do the modern custom blades have scales like bananas? W&B and Wostenholm managed to put 12 8ths+ into reasonably straight scales. Why have they become bragging right currency rather than daily users?

Yes, the new custom blades are beautiful and the scales awesome, but why not allow a bend in the tang to balance the razor and allow it to nestle into a more traditional set of scales?

New plastics and laminates are really pretty and some may accentuate the blade, but some are merely Bling.
    JMO, YMMV
