Got this William and John Birks cleaned up as much as I'm going to clean up. Leaving a lot of scars to show its age. For the scales, I fixed a crack/delamination with CA and sanded to 1000 grit. Back scale is streaked and the front has a round metal thingy on it. Good enough. Now I got them soaking in some Neatsfoot oil. Hoping my next weekend to get it put back together with the original Collars. Collars are a bit rough. They wont polish up but I want to keep it original as much as possible anyway. Can't wait to see if I can put an edge on this razor being as curvy as it is. It sharp as it is but of course I want the best if I'm going to shave with it.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4827I do think a lot of that razor. Nice to see it’s going back in action.

Thanks, Mike and Shaun. I just hope I can make it look as good as it should without making it look new. And thanks to Outback for the hints on how to fix the crack.

MikeT has surfaced. He wrote me a message last night & has been through some bad times again but at least this time he didn't go to jail. It sure was a surprise & I thought about him the other day. It's good to know he is still with us.

Hello Gentleman!
Got off work early today and spending some time resting and reading all of the old threads/posts that I missed.. .. ..
WOW! Overwhelming. Some awesome work!
I'm not done reading all of it on this thread. Not even close, there's so much learning available to me it's like Christmas in July
Congrats Gentleman!
So I've just brought my whole straight razor collection down to Charleston where we have moved to.. the problem is that it is very humid here..
Even though I don't have the time to do shave projects, I realize that I have no choice but to make some form of protective case for these so as to be able to use them and prevent rust.
Set up some sort of organized shave station.
Any good ideas?
I'm considering getting a wood dresser from second hand store and putting air tight cases inside the drawers.
But I'm definitely not very organized.
***has to be toddler safe.
* maintain proper environment.
* provide ease of use so I can take blades out for regular...
Thanks in advance for any ideas“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Thanked: 315You might try using something like ZeRust products in your storage cases.

Thanked: 315Nice blade Jerry! That blade and Mike's Hague? are probably my two favorite stubtail blade shapes. And you got the original scales. I'm looking for something like that myself.
Got some goats milk soap visiting the Amish yesterday. I think I'm going to try shaving with it to see how well it works. Bought some lotion to try as ASL.- Joshua

Thanked: 4827MikeT, I am with the thoughts of JP5, and VCI products work very well. You can go with either an emitter or paper. The paper is a simple wrap. From there if it is a simple storage situation then a locking container seems appropriate. They make a ton of inexpensive locking metal containers of all shapes and sizes, or even a pelican case with a zip tie to keep it closed.i have emitters in my display case and everything stored is in VCI paper and the stuff hanging on the project board has a thin coat of Vaseline.

Okay cool, I've never tried those products.. sounds high tech with emitters and such!
I'll probably try to find cases a bit cheaper than pelican.
At the boatyard that I'm working with fiberglass, there are plenty of varieties of dense foam boards.. thinking about making a fiberglass case with glass top. But the time spent.. may be more realistic to keep an open mind in that regard.
Some cheap air tight cases with the products you described, perhaps some desiccant pouches.. humidity gauges..
