Yes they shave very well, I believe then to have been NOS. For there was no sign of ever being honed, just rotting away.

When I was digging through my boxes with ivory scales the other day, I came across two razors exactly alike I forgot I had, John Engstrom. One was laying off to the side & the other was inside an old razor box i have that was patented during the civil war.

Cool Tom. I need to find my other one that I think is shorter. Notice the thumb notch in both of mine...............
I could be wrong, they might be the same length. The blades on these are 5 7/16" long. Now to find the other one that is in regular scales.
i didn't forget I have these though.
I have a set of scales to replace the broken one. I actually have 3 razors like that which I plan on using the scales from. The were part of a 7 day set, D. Janitsch, 11 Air St, Regent St.
Then there's this Joseph Rodgers & Sons set.
If I remember right, B52 restored one like this..............I think it was him, been a couple years.
I was wrong about the Jon Engstrom. The blades are actually 5 1/2" long. Just mine in ivory have thumb notches.
Damn thing is sharp too, it bit me!Last edited by engine46; 07-08-2018 at 09:39 PM.

Thanked: 4206Nice razors men. Yup I did a covered tang a few years back, but it was a WB in bone scales with ivory tang. The tang thanks to Tom sending me up some precious bits.
Don’t have any full ivory scales in my collection,, yet.

Thanked: 315Nice work guys! You have been busy. I love ivory and those 2 and 7 day sets are always nice to see. That bog oak looks good on everything! Razors, brushes, and even ground up as filler for horn repair!!

Thanked: 315Update: Wife's citizenship oath ceremony is this Friday!
Got my very first faux frameback last week from the wild. A little rough, but I definitely have some in worse condition.
Cut a piece for a magnet jig so MAYBE I'll be able to finish it before too long.
