Those nylon washers should be on both sides, Jerry! Keeps those mock-up screws from scratching the scales.
Only got 2 washers. Maybe i can find some more at hardware store. The sorry thing is, i had 50 of them and thru them out.
Thanks for those bolts. Much easier to use than the m8cro bolts. I will have to order a hand full. Dropped one on the carpet and i found it easy. Ha.
Thanks guys. Finishing some other scales now. Waiting for a plumber as the wife found the kitchen sink not drianing this morning.

I checked Tom. I found some at ACE that was close enough.

Got these scales finally finished. I'm getting the hang of the Tru-oil now. Wade and Butcher in Bubinga with a lead wedge. Got to get the stones out tomorrow as I got 3 I need to hone. Tried to get the pics so you can see the glass finish on it.

I got a coat of CA on the inside and pin holes on the Rosewood and the first coat of finish on the scales. Maybe in a week, I'll get them done. I'm found my issue with the Tru-oil is I wasn't waiting long enough between coats. Now I'm waiting 48 hours so it is dry enough for the next coat. Guess I'll do this with all finish coats. Safer this way and keeps me from having to sand it all down again.

BTW, Thanks for the washers Tom. I need some more practice but they turned out OK.

Looks good! Just a smidgen of rod above the collar. I use scotch tape to hold things tight before I take the screw out and insert the rod. A wrap on both sides of the collars.
I use light steel wool between the coats. Don't want to take it off, just lightly rough it up

    Looks great Jerry.
Three is my max number to hone from scratch. I often wait until I have two, but three is doable. I try to keep my honing sessions fairly short, I have a short attention span. If a bevel is not developing fast enough due to gymnastics etc I will set is aside, and revisit it at a later date. If I hone too long on one blade I start getting sloppy with my technique. You should have a couple of fantastic shaves coming your way.

Good advise, Rez! The problem children need to be taken-on singularly, IMO.

I've tried three Shaun. It's just too much for me unless I start early in the day and come back to them after the 5K when I quit. I agree I do seem to get sloppy after a while. I'm still learning the honing stage. I manage, but sometimes I got to go back to them for a second trip across the stones before they are right.

Something I forgot to mention was, I used the Bushings that Shaun sent me on this pin job in the pin holes. They seem to be just the right size to fill the space under the Collars and I wanted to give them a try. They feel good Shaun. I might have to order a bag of these little things.

Thanks for all the help Tom. I might give the tape a try. I make all holes a little big so I got room to shift things a bit while pinning. That has helped me a lot.

HAR! Getting the pin the right length is tough for me as the scales want to spread when you unbolt them. Then, I always got the rod too long. Pisses me off.
I found that if I taped them firmly above and below the collar, slip the screw-out and slip the rod in, I did better. Also, as you slip the pin-in, hold the razor with the tang facing you up to a light.
If you see light between the tang/spacers, scales anywhere, make the pin shorter.
You have to take that up as-pinning. What seems to be too short will be just right.

I do all kinds of crazy crap.
