Use some little collars, Mike. It will keep the bolsters flat.

Thanked: 4206Thanks Shawn. Nice streaking in it that the recipient wanted me to ensure stayed on both faces..
A little thicker than I usually do horn. But had to be true to the bolster geometry.

I have seen lots of Engels FWE specials. It seems no 2 have the same 'horn' or 'wood' pattern.
This is excellent work, Mike. In keeping of the way they were made.

Thanked: 4206Thanks gents.
Turned out well for the amount of time I took sanding and trying to fit the bolsters by hand.
Tried, briefly, to use the etchmaster 2000, but the image was way to detailed to risk. The curves off the edges would have been really hard to try to do with the narrow focal point of the laser. So old school over a few hours at a time over a few weeks..
May Strop it up and get a test shave in before I return it. Depends how quick I hear back from the owner now that she’s done, hehe."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 315That looks great Mike! Bolsters with streaked horn certainly make it unique but keep an original feel to it. Nice work.

Thanked: 315Brother cut up a track into 1' sections and cut me a small piece. The blade wouldn't cut all the way through so each piece had to be broken off with a sledgehammer.
I'm going to see if a local machinist can cut me a piece so it will be completely smooth on the sides.
