Now that's an interesting concept. Bet those pivots have to be Real Tight.

It is always a delight and a treat to see what you have been up to, Thaeris. But, darn it all to hell and back, you've reawakened my addictions and now I have to put black glasses on to see anything on the forum for a while.
But don't ever stop producing those gems of yours."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Well I haven't ever seen a razor such as that. Looks interesting! Do both of the blades close even with the scales?

Thanked: 557That is an intimidating looking razor. How do you hold it for shaving?

The blades of the old ones are from the Napoleonic wars according to some, hunting costumes vs uniforms on others caused one to believe that they were common in the early days of this country and were used by sailors according to others. Nice to have a spare blade when on gets chipped..
Whatever, they are cool items. My friend has one of the originals in his collection. Here is one from online:

Thanked: 315Thaeris, could you possibly get a closer picture of the pivot area? I'm curious as to how they shaped the area where the tail would normally be.
One thing I'm currently working on is trying to find my regular shaving razor. Recently it went MIA. Maybe I left it at my folks. Hopefully it turns up.Last edited by JP5; 06-11-2018 at 07:59 PM.

I ran out of room in my "Box of Rocks", So I'm working on a new one. It's not done but I'm done for the night so thought I'd share with you on what I got so far. This fits right underneath my razor cabinet, as you can see in the pics.
The top section pulls open and has 4 drawers attached to it.
I'll find some nice pulls for the drawer front, Stain it a dark color, Line the slots with something, put some trim on the front edges and some filler in the back of the slots so the stone stick out like they are now. Still got room for 3 more rocks. Not sure when I'll fill the last slots or what will go in them but now I have a little extra room. Hope you like my handy work.
Oh, I plan on marking the ends of the stones, or at least the main ones. It's just Sharpening, right?
