    Man....that is weird. Never seen anything like that before.

    Did the tang make contact with something on the display board, a peg or hook of dissimilar metal. As in electrolysis, maybe...

    Crazy stuff, outback. Seems like some gases emanated from the scales and it began right as they hit the air.
    Here is the board.....They stayed like that in time continuum. A strange form of rust. The bone one had none of it.
    May have been due to the cord that was used?
