Rez, the scales are terrific, nice work on those!
I love the oldies, hands down, the most comfortable shaves, IMHO. Something different about the steel, hard...but not as crisp as modern steel. ( 1900s ) You can even feel it on the hones.

I've enjoyed a few, all shaved very well. Heel or not.

Really...its nothing. Old technology from my elementary art Classes. Paint something rough, one color. Then paint it again with another. Wipe it with a solvent to remove the second color from the high spots only. Cool effect..eh.!

    Same thing..

    Nice!

I wonder if that's what this Mappin & Webb is needing, beyond the obvious repair that is.

Mike, good to see you were able to get the scales off the fox and Norris without them totally disintegrating. I hope you can save them would be awesome to keep the original scales and a testament to your abilities.

Your a man after my own heart, love the looks of a faux frameback. I have quite the pile that needs some form of restoration or another.

    How does the wade shave?

Yeah, rattler and faux framebacks are my thing anymore. I think of them as being like the sports cars from the 60s, nice curvy lines on them.

I'm going to hone the W&B tomorrow morning. I suspect that the former owner might have already honed it as it is sharp for an Ebay razor. Should be able to shave right after.

So is Outback's new project a pre 1800s razor?

That is a rattler grind. Stop somewhere. It's all-original!

Nice work outback mike or mgm.

Tim, that is pretty much what I am saying. Layout out a bunch of random and then more random in between until it is filled in as dense as you can. If you think about placement you will start making patterns. The mind likes order, you have to counter that.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Late 1700s early 1800s, for sure
