I know I can do the repairs, its a matter of how well it can be blended, at the end. I do plan on dying them, but its still a large area to hide. If it doesn't work, I'll make new ones, and see about transferring the pewter button into them.

[QUOTE=RezDog;1852457]I Basically I just focus on how the contact is not where. With this method I touch down all over the place then go back and hit the gaps.

This is my interpretation of this.

Correct me if I am wrong!

Put down a lot of dots and then play connect the dots?

Outback, that Hargreaves rattler looks great. That older one is cool too, one of these days I'll get my hands on one (don't see them on the 'Bay much). I've read that they can shave well!

Rez, the scales are terrific, nice work on those!

Alright, let's get to the Greaves.

There was quite a bit of pitting going on with this one. Most are like pin holes all over the blade, some were bigger. Most of the gold etching on the blade was compromised, and knew I'd loose it...oh well.

So I unpinned the scales, and sanded all I could on it, (400-1000 grt.) and stopped, before sacrificing any width from it. Buffed a bit with the dremmel, cotton wheel, and Emory. Then smoothed it all out with a rag, a touch of oil, and Cr/Ox.

When cleaning the scales, the original paint in the stamp, went down the drain. So after a week long soak in oil, and next to another week of air drying, after being removed from oil, it was repainted. Gave it two more days to dry, and reassembled with original wedge, silver/nickle rod and Austin's N/S collars.

Gee Mike.....I must be getting old. A good cleaning and a touch of neverdull. A great edge!
Hard to see them like that anymore.

    Yeah.....Sentimental old me.

Love the scales on that. Nearly perfect razor in regard to the grind and the scales give it that coolness factor.

The blade reminds me of this W&B I just got today, though the scales on mine are common horn.

There's a few spots on the blade but I think I'll leave this one alone. Just a nice hone and get it shaving.
