Pretty small blade for a Spanish-point. Anything goes!

Started shaping the pieces first. Glued it together, then sanded some more to fit. A couple of thin coats of Tru-oil and a little wax and here it is...

Purpleheart for the sides and Olive in the middle. Just used a few scraps I had from scale making in the past. I had to rob my Granddaughters Hair Tie Bowl to secure it in place. I only made one as I didn't know how well it would turn out. Now to make another one.

Any opinions or options you might have to make it better would be helpful. The edge fits inside and doesn't touch anything. That was the main plan.
That's pretty nice Jerry! The only type of feedback that I can offer you is get rid of the hairbands. Takes away from the whole effect. Maybe try a thin leather strap with a snap on it? Or dye the hairbands a dark color? Blue is just not getting it here....

Did the O-ring and notch idea of Toms. It does look better than the hair ties. LOL.
I also will be making the next one so that the tip of the razor butts up against the end of the holder, but still, allow space so the blade won't touch anything including the tip.
Here is my kindergarten drawing. The shaded area will be the spacer between the two sides of the holder. A little exaggerated in the pic, but it shows what my idea is anyway...

Dont see any reason to amputate the toe. Won't interfere with anything. Got bunches of blades that looked like that.

After restoring 80-100, you'll realize its not worth the effort. Just clean it up the best ya can, hone it, and enjoy it. No sanding, or grinding needed

Yeah, maybe I have a bit of tunnel vision and Tom I don't mean that last comment to be a smartass. I really do get it. You are seeing it from the outside and saying, "what the hell are you doing?" I appreciate all the input. That's why I come here. That and for the money...you other guys ARE getting paid for this too aren't you?

Just my .02 PaulFLUS: I wouldn't think a crack that high would affect the blades performance, it might but... I have one french point and it is a devil, the point is just waiting to bite me. You really have to pay attention or it will bite...may just be my technique. I'm a fan of the Spanish point, but what about a high barber notch? Kinda like a big ol' 8/8 FBU? Just a thought

Gasman: Nice! like the O-ring better than the hair band. Leather, as suggested, might also work really well.
O'Toole's commentary on Murphy's Law: Murphy was an optimist.

A leather band wound be even nicer. Something to think about for the next one for sure.

Or a magnet or two, drill a hole, glue in the magnets then plug the hole with a mosaic pin.

    Nice work Jerry.

Hey Jerry, what about a lid with a clasp like a clam shell?
