So a base-metal strop clip disintegrated on a custom strop. I found one in the desk I had cut off the top D-ring on my Neil Miller custom strop because there was too much swiveling going-on. Now, I just hook the D-ring on the strop hook. More stable.

Some Dremel cut-off wheel, some grinder, a steel washer and peened with a punch.
    See the vise-marks?

    Still needs some additional sanding/polishing.

Had to use a cheap resin scale after I broke the original scale at the hinge pin. CA-ed the break and will see if the fix holds. Needed scales to take the blade to the stones later.

A little something I've been working on since my last one.

Had to replace the original show side scale with another, the outside of the scales were all ate up, and would have been too thin if I'd have sanded it all smooth again, and didn't want a bunch of CA built up in them to look right.

A lot of sanding to the blade, only to leave the deepest pits. Hand polished, pinned with brass rod, original double stacked washers, and original wedge. Honed and ready for test shave.

I give you a Marshes & Shepherd, tapered blade.

    That looks beautiful Mike.

Wish I had your skill at getting the pits out of old blades. My Foulds & Hodgson has a long way to go in comparison and my thumb hurts already.

Use corks. I shape them to match the blade grind.

Oh... Pits are still visable, in the right light.

This helps with the thumb, hands, arms n shoulders.

I also do better not going any lower in grit, than 400.
It seems to work better than 320, which leaves deep plow marks/ scratches, that are sometimes deeper than the pits I'm removing. More , unneeded work.
