These will need heat treating and tempering before grinding.Last edited by randydance062449; 06-17-2020 at 05:38 PM.

Second work of the day : lone wade frameback blade, patched together with original scales that were holding an unrelated third wade (will be the subject of another less glamour work).
Scales restored with a gilder wax, quite happy of the result

Yep. Damn sure do.
It could use a little love and a touch up from some shoe polish or something but that would make a great addition to that razor if you want it. If so send me a PM with your address and I'll ship it to you.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

I finished up this Wostenholm IXL today in Katalox (aka Mexican Royal Ebony) given to me by my local knife-maker buddy. I put it in brass collars and NiAg pins, with a brass wedge. It was my first time using this wood, and it is super-hard and dense. The only finish it would take is its own oil, buffed in, much like cocobolo and the other rosewoods.
I love that Washington Works etch on the blade face. I used a light touch on the pitting and devil's spit to keep it sharp. I look forward to honing it up and adding it to my growing Wosty collection (sorry Outback Mike-you can't have them all lol!).There are many roads to sharp.

I salvaged these bolsters today. I guess I need to keep an eye out for a Leader Blade.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Cleaning up another oily/greasy, rock in a wooden box.
Leaning towards another Washita, but still too dirty to tell.

Thanked: 3215Try tapping the end of the box, if it is not glued you can hear when it breaks loose, most are not glued in.
Lately I have soaked in paint thinner, after an Oven cleaner bath. The thinner gets in deep and removes a lot of oil quickly.
Then soak in 50% Awesome and water, from the Dollar store. Awesome seems a bit more aggressive than Simple Green, both work. Purple Power available at Auto Parts stores and Wal Mart, $5/ gallon, is also aggressive and works on hard stones. I have not used on soft stones, Simple Green works well for soft stones, like slates and coticules.
I picked up a couple Washita in the original Norton Blue box a couple weeks ago at a flea market for a song.
Nice find, paint thinner and Purple Power will clean up the box as well, fill with cat litter and let it sit to soak up and remaining oil from the wood.
