So, when you have a 10-20 year collection of fine vintage and rare straight razors, how much does it cost per shave?

Lol, enjoy life while we have it gentlemen, pools, straight razors, hones, fine liquor, etc.

Thanks, Shaun. I’m still not happy with the finish on the blade face. It’s a Trizact a/o A6 finish. My wheels aren’t perfectly true, should have spent the money on a vetted brand.

The touch mark I have designed is ready to be sent out except I can’t figure out how to send it to Tustech in a format that properly shows the design. They don’t except cad drawings and every time I turn it into a pdf it pixelates the design. I’m getting to the point my first initial and last name will do for now.

Maybe I take a screen shot instead and send a png or pdf of that... that should work.

When I bought some stamps (rubber) they wanted the images as either a .png or vector. I have a friend that is a graphic artist, I sent her the image, and she converted it to a vector file and sent it back. I sent it with the dimensions to the stamp company amd they were happy to produce my stamps for me.

jpg, gif and all raster images will pixelate as size is changed but vector images won't pixelate or degrade whether they are shrunk to microsopic size or enlarged to fit a bill board because they are math based instead of just a bitmap.

The bone is really nice to work with Shaun. Do you ever try and fill the pores? I was thinking CA, like a gap filler. Thoughts?

I have tried a few things the one thing I would like to try is a stabilizer in a vacuum pot. The CA did not seem to fill the pores and look natural, it sort of made them stand out more. My most successful blending in was when I made the scales, soaked them in peroxide to whiten them, the rinsed, dried and soaked them with CA then sanded and polished them. They looked very much like plastic scales.

You confirmed my fears about filling them. Stabilizing them may be the way to go. I tried waxing the hell out of them and that was a fail. When you buff the wax off you clean the wax out of the pores and they show up similar to unfilled. It doesn’t bother me until the pores start picking up dirt.

I’ve tried polishing them up 3k. 1500 is kind enough f my favorite with a few coats of wax and buffed with a clean rag. It gives a nice satin glow.

What about filling with talc, then CA. It won't set as fast as baking soda. But I haven't tried it, yet.

The pores are part of using bone. If you don't like that use something else.
