I remember looking up the Kanji, from the old thread:
"The information found out about the Tamahagane steel that made this razor was fascinating.
The sword was made in the 1600's by sword master Hata Mitsuyo, he was a famous swordsmith, famous for his short sword, nicknamed, "the Devil's kitchen knife", and if you follow the link below, you can see the last three symbols of the Kanji match the symbols in pic #3 from Bruno's first post and read about the maker - truly an ancient piece of steel.
Love it, the "Devil's Kitchen Knife":"
HATA MITSUYO KATANA
If you look at the bottom photo, that markings were the exact same, almost makes me wonder if I should have just keep the steel...
The completed razors you made, spectacular work.

Off to the hones for the wonderedge now. This was my first time doing a bolster transfer onto wood. And I will say some lessons were learned during this process. The Australian mallee burl was like ridiculously hard, so it took some more time to really get the shape right. In the end it came out great, but like a lot of firsts, there are a lot of things I could, and would change. The razor only got a real good cleaning, no real metal removal to speak, other than polishing. One more to go gentlemen!! The goldedge will be on the workbench next, albeit after a wee break from all the razor stuff.
And then all of them together so far, minus the goldedge.

Them scales are sick.
I know what ya mean. The set of wood scales I'm working on, is harder than a wedding night, wiener.
I went through a whole sheet of 220, just shaping, and thinning them.
As long as I don't have any problems, these are gonna be sweet, too.Mike

The pointy stick is starting to look like a sabre. Weight is down to 350 grams.
I think nest step is making a handle because I want to make a forged D guard on this one and for that I need to be able to fit it to the handle.

Thanked: 4206Nice Sabre swoop! That curve looks near perfect B.
I have one of my forefathers from one of the wars.
I’ll try to get a pic of the handle for you for inspiration ideas, if nothing else.
