My cousins wife works for a museum. I've offered to restore a few items for them. They don't want things restored, they prefer to preserve them instead.

But boy, she sure likes spending time looking at the razors I've restored. She's always amazed to the life brought back into what most would call trash.

    Got one more.

Was cleaning up from the last two, when came across this one. Forgot it was sent with the scales for the recent, F. R.

Blades in good shape, a little 5/8ths. rattler, needing just a clean and polish. Sanded and fixed some of the delamination, and set um to soak in the oil bath.

Has some nice streaking in both scales, so I won't bother with spots on this one.

Yeah, I got that one early in my collecting and cleaned it up a little but I never really cared as much about that one as it deserved. That's why I sent it to you, someone who loves those Freddie's. Glad to see it find a happy home.

Decided to put the S Crookes back in the scales to check the seating. It centers okay; better than it did when I got it if I recall. It had a washer on one side to compensate.

I don't really like these scales or at least don't like the dye job.

I might strip it off and see what is underneath. There might be a good reason why they were dyed but then again it could be beautiful honey horn under it. I was on a job one time and the homeowner had flooring guys there also to replace carpet. They were just pulling it up when I got there and underneath was gorgeous original hardwood. The flooring guy talked them out of recarpeting in favor of cleaning up the wood. Anyway, they asked him why someone would carpet over wood and he said, at the time when this was laid wood was out of vogue and everyone wanted wall to wall carpet.

It could be that the blond horn was just not in style then.

Wouldn't be the first time I've come across just that.

I was going to say they looked a bit, grainy. And needed a good sanding with 220.

There are also some bug bites to fix. I might just put it in some of the streaked horn I have depending on what I find once they are stripped and sanded.

A few bug bites can look ok on an old razor. Making it look new is not always best.

Got the Freddy pinned up, and before I could get it to the honing bench, a previous repair let go. Thought it might, being so close to the wedge.

So....back apart, and old CA cleaned from repair. Tried to fix it before it came totally apart, but no go.

I'll try CAing the piece's back together, then carefully grind out the inside of the scales some to incorporate some T-88 epoxy, to reinforce it. I'll come up with something...right. my avatar says it all.
