Those turned out really nice M.G. Mike!
I've been working on my Frederick Reynolds Masonic razor. The scales were trashed so I got one of my good sets of vintage horn scales & they're fermenting in neatsfoot oil right now. I had to make a thicker wedge for it so I finally melted down my cerrobend & made a wedge. That is some good stuff. It melted fast & it isn't as soft as lead plus I think it will hold a shine better. I took a little too much off the outer edge a little so I had to file the hole a little towards the flat side & I put a piece of 3/32" brass tubing in it & it fits much better now. I'll take my scales out in a little while or tomorrow & put 'er together.
BTW, that is the old wedge next to it & it was a hollow grind blade in those scales which is why my new one is thicker because the Masonic blade is a near wedge.Last edited by engine46; 05-30-2016 at 04:03 AM.

M.G. Mike, it is also called Woods metal & it was brought up awhile back, last year some time. It is 50% Bismuth, 26.7% Lead, 13.3% Tin & 10% Cadmium. Look it up on Wikipedia. I thought I would try it out. I still make 'em from lead, brass & whatever. I even thought about hammering a nickel into one.

Cerrobend is nice stuff. I've been using it for my wedges for awhile now. Melts at a lot lower temperature than lead (about 170 degrees) and I think it shines up brighter than lead too. I experimented by pouring some molten cerrobend into the inlay cavity of some acrylic scales and it didn't even deform. I need to test it out some more on some different scales to see if there is any deformation.
