I was digging around in some razors & I came across a Torpedo.

The torpedo feels really sharp already. I'm going to see if I can polish it by hand first as always, then hopefully all it will need is a good stropping!

Well, here's the Torpedo after putting some Flitz on it & polished it with a clean rag. I then stropped it so I'll see if that's all it needed, if not, I'll hone it.

    Nice clean up Steve.
Very interesting... Thought all Artists were made by the Levering Razor Co.

Me too Mike. I had to wipe my eyes off to make sure I had a Torrey in my hands. It was actually covered up with crud & I barely saw something like what appeared to be Artist so I cleaned it off enough to read it.

No point in any more acquisitions unless I take care of what I have!

Looks good, Steve! I have to think that razor is 20's or so. German Torpedoes were frowned upon before and after!

Been working on a small loom strop. Cleaned up the hardware and the handle is drying right now. The leather needed to be replaced so I used some thin 1mm calfskin that I had. Wasn't sure if the calfskin would work being that thin, but when tightened it didn't stretch out. Will have to see how it holds up after prolonged use and if need be I will use some thicker leather. I plan on making a sleeve for it eventually.

That'll be a nice strop when done. I love my Mastro Livi large loom strop.

I just made my first attempt at honing on a Gold Dollar that I got expressly for that purpose.

I must say that the Gold Dollar is a wonderful learning experience because I am learning some basics about bad straight razor design that I never would have thought of unless I encountered them.

e.g.; Where the tang meets the heel at the blade end, it is thicker -- which makes it impossible to hone all the way out to the end of the heel.
Now I know to watch out for it!
