Gosh, it took a dang long time to catch-up to the this thread. A heckuvalot of excellent work on display these past few weeks!

My GF's mother wants a straight her grandfather owned fixed up. I have a reynolds, I think, waiting for some new pants and a W&B with a honed stabilizer. Hopefully pics to follow tonight! I may pass out on the couch though, everyone in the office is yawning too much....

The plan is to make the pile as big as I am able, then do flips off the chair into the pile.

Make a compost pile with a roll of chicken wire, leaf mold compost makes great fertilizer.

If you run your lawnmower over them, to break them down, it will compost in a couple 3 weeks. Add a couple bags of manure and mix in well, with some water to keep damp. Once a week remove the Chicken wire and re-pile in a new spot, to mix and allow good air flow. Grass clippings will add moisture and nitrogen.

In 3 weeks, you will have some black gold.

I have a large maple tree, in my front yard, that will lose all its leaves in a few weeks, they will all be composted.

You're spot on Euclid. My neighbors want the leaves to put in their chicken pen. The birds walking on the leaves breaks them down and mixes them with the fertilizer the chickens drop.

hey guys quick question about scale making. So I have my general shape used the scales that were on the razor. I was measuring the factory scales for thickness and noticed they taper/ get thinner towards the pivot pin. Do you guys go to that length when making scales or do you just shoot for a thickness and go with it? Thanks so much

The important point is to make sure the insides are flat - what you do with the outer sides in terms of shaping is down to choice. I tend to shape scales down at both ends whilst retaining sufficient thickness at the pivot so that it doesn't crack.

Sounds good thank you, I have already made sure they were flat before sticking them together I guess I will get busy shaping the rest out then
