Thread: The Butchered Blade

Hmmmm, I'm not saying anything
Okay, I've got my lazy butt to working on some things again because the weather has been nice & my back is doing better........knock on wood! It was 73 degrees awhile ago at 6pm & it is suppose to get up to 80 tomorrow.
I did not heat my Wosty up but I finally made some offset by taking some brass thrust washers, CA'd them to a piece of old horn that was no good & made one side thinner on each one rather than take meat off the inside of the cocobolo scales I made. I then polished them on a DMT a little. I now need to CA them to my scales in the proper order to make the blade center better. I hope that works.

Good work here, Gents!
I have not touched a razor,(with exception of shaving) for several weeks. Saving my battle-scarred hands for making money the 'old-fashioned' way. As I get back to it, I have a pile of projects to resume.
Meanwhile, good to see your work!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 4206We miss you over in this neck of the forum Tom..
Happy to see a few new members showing off their butcheresque skills, but always like to see your projects unfold as well.
Think I have the etchmaster 2000 ready for action, so if you never finished that lil devil inlay project, would be a pleasure to giver a go on your behalf.
After this Estas, I am hoping to give that swordplay a proper rebirth using this same gadget..

+1 on what B52 said Tom but I do understand. I remember you saying you were too broke to make the meet & I was wanting to go also but I'm definitely going to try to make it next year. Bruno has said he is coming back next year plus I would love to meet all the other faces that some of us know only as a username & avatar. I know a few faces like Lynn & some of the guys that were in the Movember charity. I bet next year will be a larger turn out.

Plan on it B52. You too Machine gun Mike. I'm sure Tom is going to make it with a year to plan it like me. It would also be nice to see Jonathan, Harold, Shaun, Phrank, Andrew & some of the other guys who I can't seem to think of now. I'm so excited already that I'm having a brainf@rt!

Thanked: 4206So, I was cleaning up the shop a bit tonight and found this in the lid of the paint can I used for my acetone bath.
I didn't dump the last solution out and the acetone all evaporated and this perfectly dry, flexible little bust was made of the inside surface of the lid.
Just thinking out loud here, but if you dissolved a scales worth of material and poured it into a mold, it's possible to maybe make brand new scales. Could be gassing off issues etc, but thought I'd share, thought it was cool."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4827after the initial evaporation a little heat may cure it off just fine.
