Thanked: 4206I swear it's the additives or soaps that were on the hands of the users over time that caused the warp in some cases. So far, only one set was save-able by heat in my workshop, every other set needed new clothes.

Oil shouldn't be a problem, being that is what plastics are derived from.... But alcohol and petroleum products may. Hence colognes/aftershaves/goo in a can. These may draw the oil from the plastic.
Like what vinyl does. Shrinks, gets hard and brittle. Its degrades!Mike

Thanked: 250I probably have a phobia with excess oil like I do with cleaning my guns. I've seen plenty of ruined walnut stocks because of over oiling.

I agree Mike. I have also seen it. That is one reason why manufacturers say to wipe all excess oil off with a clean rag. Not only that but excessive oil can cause dirt, dust or any other contaminants to stick to it. That's why I read instructions most of the time for something I get no matter what it is. Some people are like women with cars. They just get in & turn the key. Sometimes there's much more to something than people assume. Just like a brother of mine. He said he needed me to come over & program his new home phones because he didn't know how to do it. I asked him if he read the instructions & he says.........er uh no. I told him to read them & figure it out so he did & got it.

Thanked: 4206Spent some time making the new scales and cleaning up the wafer of an inlay. Acetone worked perfect, thx Tom.
Then I run the inlay image through photoshop to reverse the image so the laser can use it.
Now just need to get my sizing right and I can try to burn the image onto the new scale.
Cheers."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

I hope it works B52. That was my original intention of finding that. I have an old printer with a scanner on it. I need to follow up on the idea. Looking good so far!

Thanked: 4206Looks promising on the test piece.
A perfect fit, now I just need to dial up the strength of burn on some scraps of the actual material to make sure it will work on it. Transparent, or acrylic material won't burn at this strength of laser wave.
That will be for another day though.
Cheers.
