Next Mad Mike will make a laser straight razor, never needs honing! Really can't wait to see all the wicked inlays you're going to be doing in the future!
I have been thinking of this glitter non-stop. I can't do anything about it, but I guess I've been experimenting in my brain. For my idea, a good mold is necessary (plaster of paris?). Second, brush a coat into the mold. This would be the clear coat. Then layer by layer doing clear and glitter. This way you have 3-4 layers of glitter, giving it a 3D look. If someone has an absurd amount of time on their hands, could even make it spell something out when looked at in the correct orientation. Maybe I'm just crazy...

No, you're not crazy. I found a way to make a mold & it isn't plaster of paris. It is silicone & I will show something soon. I have been doing more research last night but I got sleepy. I think the plaster of paris would crack up or chip but a silicone mold can be reused several times & for scales it could be reused much more often. I do have a video showing it just like when I came across the laser plans but B52 had most of the things at hand & he had to get a stronger laser diode I believe. I have an old dvd burner I had forgotten about & I also have an old printer with a scanner on it which could be used. I think I have more things laying around than I thought I did but B52 just executed the plan sooner but I'm very happy for him. I have been much lazier because of the cold & it hasn't even been that cold this winter season which is puzzling to me. A scanner would work out well by putting a laser setup in place of the print head which was my plan. I need to get a stronger laser diode. I do have plenty of capacitors, resistors & such when I was building a couple guitar amps quite awhile back plus I have some different diodes but not laser diodes I don't think. I'm usually not this lazy but I have been glad to do some research lately & happy to share the ideas I have come across. I also need to get outback's long overdue package to him but I have a couple more things I need to do. I'm researching something now so I'll get back in just a little bit.

Thanked: 4206Someone beat me to it, and it doesn't work.
The Skarp "Laser Razor" Is Going to Be Total Flaming Garbage
And being crazy is simply a matter of opinion. We are all crazy, or we wouldn't be here.. Ask any non straight razor user. We are all tempting death with every stroke of our incredibly sharp, incredibly controlled straight lengths of lovely tempered steel.. And I for one, wouldn't have it any other way.

I have seen those B52 but I don't think it is really such a great thing although it sounds like it could be. If they did start marketing those, there would be no more enjoyment int the traditional way of shaving plus we love our different shaving soaps, brushes, mugs/scuttles & such.............everything that goes along with the straight razor.
B52, I wouldn't have it any other way either. I don't know what it was I was looking up but I saw that a few months back. Once I started using a straight razor, I knew I found my calling as far as shaving goes plus I found the old straights of much interest. I love many old school ways but some modern things I like such as computers & so on. When I first used a straight, I knew there was no turning back. It's like when I bought my first computer, I had very little knowledge on them & I knew little about internet speed & initially I had dial up until I found out what high speed internet was all about. No turning back, ever! Dial up was so slow it was pathetic. I enjoy my internet speed just like I enjoy my straights & repairing, modifying, honing & more. I love sharp things!
Thanks B52 for your contributions to this thread & it doesn't stop there. Thanks Tom, machine gun Mike & all the others who have shared their ideas here. I love this forum & I love this thread. It is a great honor to be a part of it, even though I have been a little slow or lazy but it isn't my fault. I'm trying & I hope that things get better on my end. When not doing physical work on straights, I research & I enjoy it! My hat goes off to everyone here.Last edited by engine46; 02-18-2016 at 05:54 PM.

Okay, I'm not done yet & I'm going to try this because I have one razor I know of that is an Italian made. When I first got it, it was okay but about a month later, I got it out & when I opened the blade, I heard a cracking noise. I looked at it & it has a crack in one of the scales & they are like a translucent butterscotch color. I would like to fix it just like it is because it has an inlay on it I believe. I can take it apart, CA the cracked one back together unless it is still intact & make a mold with the original scales, then make some as close to that as I can. Okay, here's what I have found so far:
