Man that IS a long time! That's like ship building long! Profits would have to be very large!! Dang!

I hope there are economy's of scale that occur lol...

I was helping a friend work several tables at the gun show in Kansas City this weekend. .22 Rimfire was down to 50$ a brick and traffic at the show was minimal. Summer is kicking in, the wife and kids have fun on their minds and dad's ammo needs will take a back seat. I believe over the summer supply will catch up as demand dwindles.

The shame of it is, they are snatching it off the truck at Wal Mart for $21.00 a brick.
Bass Pro demand has slowed the past week, they were telling me,,, leaving some ammo on the shelves for a day or two, instead of it lasting under an hour.

I was talking to a salesman at Cabelas, one of his customers has 750,000 rds of 22lr. Hoarding at it's worst. On the bright side I was able to buy 100 off the shelf at Walmart, 1st time I've seen any since Jan

Here is a rather basic but seemingly accurate story on the issue:

Recently overheard in the local shop, that the manufactures have told the Govt that they will not be able to fulfill the orders as placed. It was opinioned that this would allow the manufacturers to get a little more to the public market and ease some of the backlog. No clue how true any of that is.

As for hoarding, well, back in the 80s, I recall stocking .22 shorts by the full case load. I believe it was 36 bricks to a case? into the basement. At one point there were over 40 of these cases. All gone in just 2 years.
Of course, back then, my dad was running the shooting gallery in Coney Island, and Remington ended production of the special gallery ammo, so hoarding was the only option if he wanted to stay in business!
