Thread: Rimfire Ammo Shortage...

Just an update. As many of you predicted, the shortages are starting to ease up a bit. I'm starting to see some 22Lr, and picked up a box of generic 22 magnum for less than $9 at Wal-Fart yesterday.
Just for giggles, I stopped in at Academy today. Though all of their popular handgun calibers are behind the customer service desk (the usual 9mm, 45, etc.) the selection was plentiful and reasonably priced (what I was waiting on!). I paid $24.99 for a box of 50 Speer Lawman 230 grain hardball training ammo; heck, generic hardball was about this price years ago, wasn't it? The only dollar-a-round stuff was the always pricey JHP +p stuff marketed as high end defense ammo.
So all you guys who have been hoarding ammo at double the retail value, take a breath now, and maybe go shoot some of those 50,000 rounds.Last edited by ScoutHikerDad; 07-08-2013 at 07:54 PM.

Yes, the ammo is staying on Bass Pro shelves for hours now & not seconds. Today there was still some .40 left from yesterday's delivery.

Thanked: 1936I've visited some of the Northeastern States and have to say that I would never live up there due to the gun laws. Heck, when attending a range with my personal weapon, I had to bring back EXACTLY the same amount of brass as I purchased (range did not allow personal ammo brought in). I think I was one short and they almost shut down the range until one guy brought in extra brass.
Ammo is getting better here in Southeast Oklahoma/ Northeast Texas as well. Still no .22 on the shelves very long, but 9, 40, 45 may last up to days on the shelves at the local WalMarts. Maybe by this fall we can go by the store to get the ammo we plan on "burning" at the range instead of having to get into personal storage.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott

In South Carolina they just shoot up the road signs. Replace a rural stop sign, and two weeks later it's full of holes-yeehaw.
