Such open water spots are not so unusual wherever there's river crossings with heavy streams or so (sort of a last place for too many ice fishers almost every year). However, i've never seen anything with so perfect round shape. Looks very cool!

I haven't seen ice like that but debris swirling like that in the summer is common. I bet if one looked for it they would be more common than you might think. I love to ice fish but as Sailor said moving water is dangerous for ice so I stay away.

Ice fishing is very popular here; people even come far from inland to ice fish some at sea ice. For obvious reasons, they who do not live by the sea are most likely to get in deep trouble with it.

As a good friend of mine once told me. He lives further away in the archipelago and been fishing/ice fishing since he learned to walk. Every spring when the ice gets so weak that locals refuse even to walk on it any more. Then comes suddenly a carload of some inland tourists speeding there on a thin ice. They are hurry to get some more fish! It's actually a wonder there are only few death cases every year.

Not to talk about another common early springtime phenomena when ice fishers get caught in the loose ice raft and start to slowly drift towards Sweden/Poland/Estonia. Sometimes there's dozens of those loose fishers. Those are busy times for coast guard/navy who have their hands full of 'annual ice fisher rescue contest'. I've heard cases when some fishers were actually pissed off as their fishing had been interrupted by the rescuers

Thank you very much Steph. Truly you are a gentleman of good taste!

Off to bed here...but just thought you would like to know. The Philosophy is a blend of Toasted Black Cavendish and Whiskey Cavendish. Cheers !!

So. I have been using a vintage edgeworth tin to hold whatever flake I'm smoking at the time. It just fits a lot better in my pocket then the new ones. On the Back of the tin It says do not use to hold tobacco again. Is this just a gimmick or is there a reason for it? Name: uploadfromtaptalk1391151792062.jpg

Next thing ya know, you'll be recklessly removing tags off of pillows and then it's all down hill from there.
