I just remembered to share this with everyone here:
    Whisky Explorers Club
On forscotchlovers.com, they have 3 memberships available. The base level, for $170, sends you a flight of 4 50ml whisky samples 4 times a year along with one Glencairn whisky glass. The bottles come with their identity hidden with a code you enter in the website. It then directs you to a page where you fill out tasting notes and try to see how close you come to the pro tasters. With the 4th and final flight, you recieve a full size bottle of a limited production whisky (around $50 value).

My wife signed me up for this last year for my birthday and it has been awesome! It is a great way to try a good variety of whisky that you would never have bought a full bottle of.

There are also other memberships that just send you staff selected bottles every other month for 6 or 12 months.

Note: It sounds like im selling it but I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just really enjoyed the membership.

Now enjoying a Laphroaig 10 years old. There is one dram left in the bottle... and a quarter cask is waiting for me at the liquor store, so I can taste the difference.

Oh Goodness! Thy name is Compass Box!

Sipping tonight, number 93 in "101 Whiskies to try before you die" The Spice Tree:

This one smells like raisins and nuts but comes on bold with peat, brown sugar, and orange flavors.

That is one of the best things I have read tonight. And do bear in mind I was in chat with Lee and posted about my discussion with Ron/Utopian of huminore that we had at the MN meet.

(Bringing it back to the topic) All while sipping some Oban 14.

Three fingers (very scientific) of Jimmy Beam on ice with a splash of ginger ale. Very nice! I went on a long Jameson kick so the Jimmy Beam is quite a bit less smooth by comparison but still quite good (for medicinal purposes of course)
The older I get, the better I was

Unfortunately none while reading or, now, writing this as I am still at work having (only) a tea break right now..

I will however try tonight one I have never had the pleasure of trying before, a Hibiki 17 years old whisky from Suntory in Japan. Picture attached below.

They have a fine selection of those in one of my favourite Bars here and I just have to try them.

Last night I had a dram of Glenrothes select reserve (The 4th from 101 whiskies to try before you die):

With the glass about four inches from my nose, I smelled butterscotch. This stuff is light and sweet. Nice little bottle for about $34

Since I'm at work, my only choice is the now tepid Starbucks I've had since 6:30 this morning. Now, if I had been in this line of work about 40 years ago, it would be perfectly acceptable to have a bottle of something in my desk to fortify my coffee, or to have a nip or three after lunch
