I agree, but I have been known to drink a boat load by myself, 4 pots in one evening is not uncommon. So it might be a worthy invrstment

You may want to consider an electric samovar or a turkish style one. Much cheaper on both counts, does the same job and no lighting fires. Just sayin... Amazon.com: electric samovar. Amazon.com: turkish tea pot

Electric samovar!? Sounds as incongruous as an aluminum yurt! But I don't honestly know squat about samovars, except that they sure do look like they predate electricity.

So, Nightblade, what is this dream teakettle that you seek?

I understand where your coming from night, but the price on this one is 115. The electric ones are at least 3 times that. And besides the date on the bottom while it may not be as antique as many others, it still dates to before the fall of the wall

Not a dream kettle. already got it. $40 no bad...appreciate the offer but I had an itch that needed scratchin and a reason to get out an about. also got a mortar n pestle for $12 gonna make some homemade mustard in a few minutes. Meantime..enjoyin tea and biscuits. An electric samovar is fine...it's a giant water boiler and the small teapot at the top holds a highly concentrated tea brew. The idea is to pour a small amount of tea in your cup and add water to strength desired. In this fashion, families in old russia had hot tea all day for themselves and guests. If you were toi drink a straight cup of the concentrate (zafarka) you might literally have to see a doctor. in order to get the old ones going, you had to drop some hot coals n such down the cylinder that ran down the middle of the body. this usually was done outdoors as it could get quite smokey otherwise. Cheers guys !

That's why I was trying to sway you to an electric one.The antique ones usually need fixing up which costs money. For about 20 bucks more you can have a new electic one. But I understand. If it works out for you then I will be happy for you. Cheers
