    By chance did you make the beef 'spicy'? If you've never tried them; Szechuan peppercorns are a very unique spice as it adds 'heat' but it also provides a 'numbing' effect for the lips and tongue.

    Okay you guys,Im' giving up a secret for OCD's sake so here goes .........That Spaetzle you made, saute up some trinity (green bell peppers,onion and celery) and chopped up breakfast meat or meats any kind,a bunch of Cajun seasoning Basically smoked Paprika,cayenne pepper garlic and onion powder and some black pepper and thyme add spaetzle and brown it up.Crack and egg or two and scramble it up gentle so you have big pieces of scrambled egg in there,....salt to taste .....Cajun style breakfast spaetzle..... ta da !
