I just pulled the trigger on 10pcs Gold Dollar 200, the cheapest stainless model that GD makes, from a reseller on AliExpress. I want to check them out before placing an order from the factory and being stuck with 100 of them if they suck. These have essentially the same blade as the 800, but same cheesy ABS scales as the 66, 100, 208, etc. If they make me happy, I will list them and maybe add them to my regular product line. Standard shipping so it will be a few weeks before I get them.
Meanwhile I have set a preliminary coarse bevel on the three Titans I got the other day but I need to go to the boat and get my dial caliper and measure the bevel angle before proceeding with honing. I will say this, though... the ACRO steel is plenty hard stuff. I mean REALLY hard. Titan's ad copy isn't exaggerating on that. The ACRM-2 razor and the VG-10 razor were easier to manage but still every bit as hard as the hardest Solingen razor I have honed and considerably harder than the GDs I have been honing so many of recently. The grinding was pretty lousy, though. And just because steel is hard doesn't necessarily mean it makes a great razor. Jury isn't just still out... they still haven't even seen all the evidence yet.

Thanked: 4206First razor purchase all year.
From the picture on the online local auction house couldn’t tell, but it’s a Boker king cutter, with a blemish right in the middle of the goldwash, but overall, still a nice little razor.
An old flashlight and handwarmer for the Mg road kit caught my eye in the bundle as well.

Love that Mike. Boy that hand warmer brought back memories. My Dad had a few of those some had the wool bag and some didn't. He had one just like that though.

Thanked: 4206Truly is Shaun, and thanks Paul. an old Molson bottle opener, and a classy zippo, a mini mag light from when they actually made them in Canada was also in the lot.
Unlike eBay, no sniping so I ended up in a mini battle at the end, but 50 bucks all in I was pleased to get the lot..Last edited by MikeB52; 03-13-2021 at 04:40 AM.

Just ordered 100pcs stainless steel GD800. Supposed to be 440C. A free razor, to whoever has access to XRF testing, for an assay. They could mean, "close enough to" 440C, you never know.
Cici is also sending me a couple GD300 samples. These are available in carbon and in stainless. I am looking forward to testing them in the standard no-name stainless. If they hone and shave okay I might place an order some time.
Meanwhile, the GD200 lot that I ordered from a reseller seems to have been turned back and is now back in China, according to tracking. Maybe U.S. customs thought that they were counterfeit Gold Dollars? LOL We'll see what the seller says when they show up on his doorstep. Sometimes the Chinese worker bees scramble up the address. Happened to me once before. Our writing is all just chicken scratches to them, I think, and it all looks the same.

I thought I posted about this one. Picked this up on eBay pretty cheap.
It's a shoulderless Torrey so seemed hard to go wrong even though there were only 2 pics and no description to speak of. Still figured I'd take a chance on it.
Turns out it is a travel razor or some kind of mini.
Cute little thing ain't it?Last edited by PaulFLUS; 03-18-2021 at 09:30 PM.
