I had been wanting a 3/8 razor. Why, I dont know. Guess because I dont have one. So I had come across this 5/8 Full hollow MERIT, Back of tang says Fred W. Kiefer Co. Germany. The edge had a couple big chips but rust wasnt too bad. Used the Dremel the right direction this time and cut the edge down to 7/16. Dug thru my drawer of scales and found a thin set that were in decent shape. Got it cleaned up a bit and pined. Still need to put it on the hones and its going to take some work after what I did to the edge but its still in the hollow so should be ok. Still a tiny bit of the top of the chip in the edge as I didn't want to take any more than I needed.
It should end up a real honest 3/8 from spine to edge when I'm done. The pics make it look like its more narrow at the tip but the last pic shows its straight. It's just Sharpening, right?

Another one I got ready for the hones today is this RAHAMIN PENHAS (couldn't find any info on it?) Made in Singapore. Well, its close to china! Marked "Best Steel Razor" #2515. I had a pink blank I'd been wanting to use so I went with it. With the detailed spine work I think the pink give it a pretty look. Dont know how why this steel is going to hone up. I'm hoping its not as bad as a GD or ZY or worse! But I was about to dress another razor and use a blank I didn't know what I was going to do with.
So, If you have any info on this razor please let me know.

I've straightend several horn scales , by using a heat lamp. Get um all hot and flexible, and bend and twist them to break the memory from the fibers, until they lay flat, then sandwich them between two flat surfaces, till cool. Some I've had to repeat the process a few times, but it usually works.
Then the repairs, then soak in a bit of neats foot oil. I put it all in a zip lock bag, set it in a plastic tray, and put them in the window sill to warm in the sun, sometimes for several weeks. Three weeks have been the longest, so far.Mike

I thought about trying that Mike and still may. Got mine in shape pretty well. The steam started to put a warp in a different area and I finally just went with what I got. Didn't want to flex mine to much both scales are cracked at the pivot.

Tough to get anything like this done, but a couple of old picture frames I hope to use to display some oldies.
These were in In-law's closet. Somebody's great-granddad and grandmother's pics as they were young. Wish I had taken pics, but handsome pair in pricey frames with hand-domed glass. Glass was loose, paper backing gone. Convex pics were in several pieces.
Crumbling.
A guy bid 250 bucks on them at the sale. Wife and sister in law cried and bitched.
They oughta be restored, sez they....
SO Old Tom took the pics out and gingerly packed them in a tubby...
All wrapped in white linen. Yes...As cold as the clay.
Told 'em anytime they wanted to have the pics restored, go for it.
Meanwhile, the frames are getting touched-up, the glass will be siliconed to the wood from the backside, and the frames will cover some cool old razors in my room.
Will take a long while, but at 18 X 13ish glass area, should be prominent in the space allotted.
Way over 120 years old, I think!
