The one with the remains of the grooves was, I suspect the other one was 1084 or similar. I've got two more I started, one of them is the mirror image piece to the file here.

I've made some hunting knives from files before, but not a razor.
Did you have to heat treat yours after shaping.
Reason for asking is because i didnt have to on the knives, they were done slowly with a bench grinder and belt sander, and kept cool at all times

How did you separate the blade from the frame?

Yeah... if you have a couple of years in solitary confinement and you need something to pass the time.
Otherwise, no. It will take ages.

Since the spine isn't hardened, and the old blade was un-useable, I used a butane torch to heat up the solder and placed the blade in the vice vertically and applied pressure to the tail to lever it out. If I get home at a decent time, I will mock up a pic of how.

Actually, I may consolidate the posts from this project into a thread once I'm done, for future reference.

No pictures yet. No information yet. And it will be some time before I can start the work. But even compared to my own work, something wicked this way comes. Something epic. Something that compares to my existing Alien designs in the same way that my Alien designs compare to e.g. an entry model dovo. The artwork and design details are drawn to customer spec by a professional artist with a penchant for designs that really identify with my style. It's going to be epic, and a huge time sink. It's going to be one of those projects I just have to do because not doing it is not an option

    That's all for now
