Well I finally got some hours in and got something done on that Klas Tornblom 7 day.
Sanded the African Blackwood down to just under 1/16" thick. Smoothed it to 2000 grit. Waiting on micro-mesh in the mail to take it to 12000 grit and then will oil and renwax.
The Tang taper on these blades is slight so it may be hard to see but they are indeed wedges. I wanted the blades to sit down in so wedges a little thicker.
This design of wedge took WAY longer than anticipated to tinker with to get right, and I never would have dreamed that 7 day sets took so long.. but I am ocd about little details so it takes me a bit longer. Im not fast by any means.
The wedges are ivory.
This is just a mock up of 3 blades. The pins will be simple nickel silver with small washers.
Still need to make the silver name plates for day of week, but Ive never worked with firing silver so that will be interesting. The jeweler in town says he will engrave them.
The blades have some polishing up needed and of course honing needed.
Thanks for checking it out, Ill try to hurry up and post the finished product soon, Im just really slow and work a whole lot.

Thank you so much RusenBG! It really means a lot to hear that. The time spent on detail is so long, I ask myself "do I do this for the end product? Or because I like the work? Or because I'm crazy and obsessive compulsive?" Probably all of the above!
Lol
Much appreciated!

Thank you Miha! The idea was time consuming and harder to get right than what I'm used to. But it was exciting when it turned out to work.. I also didn't think it would be appreciated, sometimes my ideas are out of touch with acceptable style. I've got creations that turned out very ugly and will not be seen by camera.. Lol

Thanks Mike! Means a lot.
I've been spending the day learning how to mold silver. Whole different set of skills.. but I didn't just want to cut the name plates out because of detail work on silver, and I think it could come in handy knowing how to make things with silver.
