Reason for asking is because i didnt have to on the knives, they were done slowly with a bench grinder and belt sander, and kept cool at all times

I always anneal files before working them, and i had to heat this one anyway to shape the tang. The file razor and its sister were split from the same broken end of a file. A fine cutting disk on the angle grinder split the file in half, down the middle of the tang.

I think the one is just too over the top.
Plus making a wedge that fits right in the beak is killing me, narrow neck is pushing it as well.
You dont know how far to go starting out until unfortunately you go to far.

As Bill said; It's different. It seems to be what you would like for your razors.

I've found that 99.99% of EVERYTHING associated with straight razors is 'PERSONAL PREFERENCE' personally I wouldn't have gone that route. Throughout my life I've 'preferred' function over form. Recently I was honored to hone a Bruno Custom Straight. Oh it shaved wonderfully. With that said; I found the design 'difficult' for me to use especially stropping it. However the owner and my friend is very pleased with it and to sum things up/that's all that counts!

I fully understand your concept of your Duck Design and it's looking good!

All that matters in the end is that you are pleased with your efforts

I should have added that I was thinking if the material he used may have just been .001"-.002" thicker than the original piece.

As I pondered your words of wisdom, the beak it just too hokey. And I wasnt sold on it. Being new to scale making I questioned myself. After your post I mocked up a blade in the scales, It doesnt work at all. Thanks to both of you for kindly saying what I needed to hear.
Form didnt follow function in this case.

At first look I was impressed. Still am. Whether you chop the beak off or keep it I think that you can with some ingenuity make the design work within your preference level.. where there is a will..
So far, the easiest jobs I've done were simple restores. The hardest ones have been when my imagination took flight outside of practicality and it was then the job of ingenuity to figure out how to make it work. This often resulted in design modifications and compromises. But the middle ground found is quite often beautiful and fulfilling on a deep level.
Preference is key of course. That said I believe many inspiring ideas are shut down, and conformity found at the hands of social pressure.
SO, I think your idea is great! I was excited to see someone step outside of the box. It can be scary, and also a pain in the arse making your design work!
Temper imagination with logic, and hone the result with ingenuity!

In my most humble opinion

After Cudarunner spoke, I asked myself" Will I ever be Thaerus?? No, So how can I be me and yet be dignified to our craft?
As I thoughtfully considered it , I asked "Is it dignified or is it a Pez dispenser ?
I thank all for their input, truly I do.
I feel more artful and keeping to our standards to introduce the shape.
I now see it in Japanese style razors, and done backwards of my shape.
Bless you all for input and toleration of a different set of scales.

Beak is gone, it doesnt hold well in the hand.

Ultasound:

I'll tell you this: You are much better at making scales than I am/I've done a few wooden scales that were just Plain Jane's/functional only. When I want something 'fancy' but functional I have my friends do it for me as I know that they are much more creative and talented than I am. Hell I can turn a piece of wood into sawdust and never get a scale made!

I've got a set of 1/8" thick giraffe bone blanks that I've yet gotten up the courage to make some scales with as I don't want to waste the material/the source was a living animal and I respect that.

Keep up the good work, you are finding a balance between 'Form' and 'Function'
