Ouch, sounds like your taking it well. I've always liked the look of those razors, I may pull the trigger on one some day. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Really nice wood and workmanship, really like the maple scales also. Nice grain, good color, finish...just well done.

Beautiful area, you're making me jealous. Enjoy your time before you have to come back to the "real" world.

Wow, Aaron. Those pics remind me of the Greenbrier river in West Virginia. Stocked trout, though a few natives, brooks, and Golden's.

Mike-Sometimes we drive up to fish West Virginia, but this is kind of a remote, under the radar stream in the Smokeys, with the usual Appalachian mountain conditions: browns down low, bows in most of the drainage, and native "specs" (brook trout) up high if you've got the legs to get to 'em. It is as close to the perfect trout stream as any I have ever fished, and I'm dumb-founded (but ecstatic) that it doesn't get pounded (like every other stream in the Smokeys it seems). I call these mountain streams my therapy couch. During the school year, when I don't have time to get away, my shop and razor work keep me sane.

SOMEWHERE--Is a picture of my dad with a string of cutthroat trout that's at least comparable to the picture on the package of hooks. They were caught back in the 50's in some high mountain lakes that were only accessible by foot or horseback--dad rode a horse.

Anyway due to differences between State and Tribal Rules this doesn't qualify for a state record for Rainbow Trout (I don't know what the DNA test showed) but what a rush it must have been to hook and land it--especially without a net.

A fisherman I know from Winnipeg, Manitoba once asked me, “Do you know what we call Ontario trout here?” The answer was “bait”.

Yea, they got some beggins there as well as other places cross Canada too. Nobody has yet to land a Brookie larger than the 14.5lb one caught on the Nipigon river 70mi/110km NE of here in 1915.

Mind you there was a close call and a beauty it was too.
