I finish on a Thurigan, and very pleased with the results. I used to use cr-ox after the 12000 Nani, but now its straight to leather from the Thurigan.

Thanked: 250Well, I'm going to compare the results. Of course the test will really be between my coticule and this Thuringian. The results will be of little use to anyone else unless they use the same two stones. If I have the time I might run one of these 7 razors on my hard Arkansas just to see what the outcome is. The time it takes to hone on an arkansas might be like watching paint dry.

Thanked: 2284A Polo style handle in Faux Tortoise and Black Acrylic. Mike, I now know what your talking about. This Tortoise rod is made from some weird stuff and is extremely brittle when turning. Has a fiberglass smell to it.... roughed out the shape last night and was extremely careful with this Tortoise rod.

Thanked: 2284Ya Mike and Mike. I've turned other polyesters and it's been ok, but this stuff seems even more brittle. Maybe I'm just off my game, but I had a tool bite in while turning this last night.... let's just say it got an ear full from me.

Thanked: 250I just finished taking the Wiss out for a test shave. What a SHAVE, wish the razor was mine. I'm going to weep when I return it to my cousin.

Slow to-day and I went through the pile to find something to do which would be more fun than cleaning my office, yet not cost any money.
Found this box for 3 W&B Curley Aristos razors with the 'improved tang' with only one razor left.
Looked like my old FBU might fit, so I ran home to get it. It fit, barely, so I gathered up some red material I had and stripped out the box.
Cut and sized a few panels of balsa, some spacers of basswood, a few pieces of thin foam, used some of the fabric salvaged from the bottom of the box. That little glue-tape roller thing is super for this sort of project .
Turned out good, I think! It is super-snug in there, yet comes out easily. Thought about removing the 'Curly' thing, but it is stamped-in, so I left it.
At least I have something to show for today!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
