Does not seem to 'work'! Hate to tell you! JMO . I guess I am a sort of period purist?

    Am I wrong?

Agree, perhaps I'm a purist as well, but I can certainly appreciate the time and effort for making the scales but definitely not on that blade. That said if your happy with the results it's your razor.

I see vintage blades with all sorts of crazy scales on them that a lot of people are all gaga about. I don't get it either but sometimes you have to look at the workmanship and not someone taste. It see a thin set of polished and neatly shaped scales on a well restored blade that is neither over polished nor left with a lot of black rust on it.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I think people are looking for something different than the standard colors. I am ok with more "out there" colors , but I am very much not in tune with impractical shapes.

    Thanks.

True mirror finish is very hard to get. The more mirrored the blade is the easier the tiniest scratches can be seen.
I am a fan of mirrored satin, as close to factory finish as possible basically.

    I concur!

I've found that 99.99% of EVERYTHING having to do with straight razors is PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

While the color scheme isn't what I'd 'Prefer' I find the workmanship very nice! I congratulate the owner on his workmanship!

Awhile back a good friend posted some beautiful work and was trashed because of the color that he'd dyed the wood (he'd made the dye himself) and his choice of handmade washers and basically because of the 'time period'.

'Personally' I would hope that those who digress with a choice of material would refrain from posting negetive comments and instead comment on the workmanship.

    But that's just 'ME'.

Once I was bashed for making those scales (something in the lines of blasphemy), I thought they were fine especially since there were blades back then scaled in candy stripe type of scales.
