    My 3 cents;
    If scales need changing, then it's the restorer's personal tastes that decide the outcome.
    If originals can be saved to near factory standards, then save the originals.

    Like the colour or not, she fits in there beautifully.

    Those scales were not my go to, I was making horn scales. But the colour has grown on me.

    Also adding some colour to the collection.

    Green is not uncommon color for scales of Japanese straights , I think it looks great. If I were you I'd just contour the scales to make the figuring pop more.

    It does seem than wilder scales go well with Japanese razors.

    Stefan's candystripes would be swell on one, IMO.

    Anyhoo, it's scales! As long as they are practical and the owner likes them, all is good.
    It's only a pin to change them.
