Thanked: 2284[QUOTE=ultrasoundguy2003;1619305]Just lucky with this one Jonathan. Slight surface rust around the pivot, tarnish on the rest. It was an easy cleanup. Honing was also lucky, one of those that took an edge quite easy. I've had a good streak of those lately.... fingers crossed that it continues.... at least for a little while.

Its been a full weekend.
Starting Saturday morning, till now.
1. Cleaned up a Mappin & Webb.
2. Did some minor repairs to some horn scales, and put them to oil.
3. Honed a Crown & Sword, and a American Razor Co.
4. Put a FBU in oil
5. Finished bringing a strop back to life, that I got from the flea market a while back. And reblued the hardware.
To be continuedMike

6. Cleaned my SRD Latigo, and CA PHILLIPS strops with saddle soap, and cleaned the linen on the Phillips, after
hanging a new shelf in the shave den, for my shave mugs, and strops.
7. And will finish honing the last razor in the NHB, (needs honed box) the Top Flight, from Steve (Engine 46).
Then I can resume to the next project(s)
Puting the Mappin & Webb in the horns, and cleaning up the FBU.
Whew!! Busy, busy, busy [emoji38]Last edited by outback; 04-03-2016 at 11:35 PM.

Saddle soap three different times, applications of water and neets foot oil. (A little at a time). Apply...wait a few days, apply...wait a few days. I would also rub it with a smooth glass, and warm it up from the friction of the glass. This thing sucked up every bit of oil and water that I fed it, and will probably take a bit more. But its flexable again, and at a useable state for now. With use, it'll only get better.
There are some great articles in the forum on this, I just used some ideas from them. But moisture and oil + time, were the ones I kept seeing the most.Mike
