Thanked: 4249Not sun damaged, it's because it's a left handed razor so therefore the left scale meaning the broken one gets more uses and it broke. Yeah that's it...

Also, if the back scale may be brittle enough to crack twice in half...May do it again?[/QUOTE]
I agree about the probability of recracking.
One of the antique stores I frequent has a razor out front that is multicolored between the left and right scales, they display it in the store front window. Makes me think of stained car plastic, but one would think it would be the lighter side that is sun worn and cracking...

Thanked: 4206Although, it could have been put on a register to dry for years in an old water heated house and the owner always did it inlay up and voila, cause they do look almost identical. The colour and edge could have been affected by something like that as well.
I have a spike razor that had a bad case of scale warp to the point that they can't even close anymore without striking the wedge. So we just never know what our razors were subjected to before they finally got into hands that could treat them properly again."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanks sharptonn! I just might take you up on that offer. Ya, I'm worried that the scales will crack again and not all that confident the fix will work so I'll have to see what happens after the epoxy cures.
The pictures show two different color scales, and while it's entirely possible they are not the same, I didn't get that feeling taking it apart. The pins and collars seemed factory to me but possible it was taken apart and put back together long ago, nice job if so. In hand and looking in person I had the feeling like sun exposure or heat or something that one side was treated differently than the other. I will try to get better pictures if I can I think the light may have play a part as well.
It seemed like the cracks lined up with stress right at the pivot and at the tail if the blade was extended and the tail was inside the scales. Like the blade was out straight and was pushed sideways."Go easy"

Hey I think you guys are right about two different scales. They are really close but the front scale seems to be a hair bigger than the back.
Also the "grain" is a little different. The front scales has straight lines all the way down and the back scale (broken one) is a little wavy grain.
I was so excited to start fixing things that I didn't pick up on these little differences. Helps to have other eyes on it! Thanks guys!
So, considering the back scale seems likely not original, and broken, I think I will be PM-ing sharptonn after all!! I've got nothing in stock that matches. Lucky that the front scale is ok!"Go easy"
