Ok I have blue. Just wasn't planning on using it on this blade. What benefits would there be from using the method you mentioned vs leaving it as is? I'm always down to try new things, and my dad gave me a new jar of Renaissance wax for Xmas, so I can do everything you've mentioned.

It will get down into the dark spots and make them darker, but more importantly it forms a protective barrier. It also make it look like natural patina after you buff it. In the end the blade will look aged and well loved. I like the forced patina look on older blades and they are a little better protected than just polishing them.

Denatured alcohol is best. IMO
Leaves 0 residue.

Oh man. That may have been the best piece of advice I've utilized in a long time. Letting it set for a minute before I wax it, pics shortly

It was super-cold this weekend, so I stayed indoors, doing some touches to my room.

Digging though the cabinets, I found this antique shade I bought to mount a light under my barber-pole....Forgotten about THAT!

Everything was installed, yet I disliked the light 'clickety' noise the gearmotor in the barber pole made when I was listening to soft music. Moved the bench and set up a table upon which to work. I originally got this pole as just the shell/glass.
Since it was all me, modifying it was not an issue. (The wife sez I am going to burn the house down!)

Two things wrong....Had to do it!

Went to Lowes, some lamp parts, terminals and stuff from the shop, a pull-chain switch I had.


Used some drilled plugs and used the 2 plugged 3/4 holes on either side to install a main switch and one which would turn off the motor when desired with the pole and lamp still lit.



So I got it back up, the funky bulbs were garish and then found a little round bulb in the cabinet which was just right.
Got that done. Turned-out pretty neat.

Then, I moved into the adjoining room, cleaned and set up some funky 'chicken lamps' I absconded with from the in-laws house. (I now call them 'cock-lamps!)



I finished-up the weekend sitting on a stool and cleaning up my cabinet/glass, dusting off and straightening up my little pile of 'chevron cars' as I watched the Packers whip the Giants.



Getting close to doing some more razor work soon!
